2:00 PM - 3:00 PMTricks and Treats of Transfer Week: An Interactive Session Presented in Collaboration with Transfer Nation

Join CollegeSource and Transfer Nation for a special social hour with all eyes on the transfer student experience! CollegeSource’s Let’s Talk Transfer hosts, Sarah Hatfield and Tim Horzmann, will be joined by Lauren Kaplan and Jamie Blanch from Transfer Nation to share perspectives and explore the processes, programming, and practices that help transfer students feel welcome and supported, from their first interactions with an institution through their experience on campus.

Come ready to share your own tips and “tricks,” too, from activities for National Transfer Student Week to creative ways you engage and support students year-round. And because it wouldn’t be Tricks and Treats without the treats, attendees will also have opportunities to win prizes along the way!

There’s more! Keep the conversation going with Transfer Nation for Part Two on October 28 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Come back together to debrief, celebrate your work, and share successes and lessons learned from National Transfer Student Week. Registration for the October 28 session is coming soon.

3:15 PM - 4:00 PMA Break to Explore The Commons

There is no session during this hour, but we encourage all users to use the time to interact on The Commons!

The Transfer Week Webinar Series has its own category within The Commons, which is a free community space for higher education professionals to share ideas and resources, celebrate successes, tackle challenges together, and seek advice from peers who understand their work.

The Commons gives you another place to continue the conversations that start here long after Transfer Week has ended. We encourage you to jump into The Commons and share helpful resources that came up, ask for resources others mentioned, or start a new conversation around something you’d like to explore further. It’s a great space to keep in touch with fellow attendees.

More importantly, The Commons is open to the broader higher education community, so you don’t need to be a CollegeSource product user to join. Your colleagues can create a free account, too!

  • If you are a Transferology, TES, or uAchieve user, you also get access to dedicated product discussion areas.

To get started, sign up for a free account using your institution email address at thecommons.collegesource.com.

2:00 PM - 3:00 PMBefore They Disappear: Reducing Transfer Melt Through Connection, Communication, and Confidence

Transfer students do not always melt because they lose interest. Sometimes, they disappear because the path forward becomes too complicated, overwhelming, or uncertain. From navigating credit evaluations and financial considerations to managing deadlines, institutional processes, and competing communications, transfer students often encounter a complex journey between admission and enrollment. Institutions frequently respond by sending more reminders and information, but more communication does not always create more clarity—or more confidence. This presentation explores transfer melt through the lens of connection.

Drawing from enrollment practice, research on student communication preferences, and strategies designed to support students navigating complex decisions, participants will examine how institutions can identify moments of uncertainty and disconnection throughout the transfer journey. Participants will explore practical approaches to simplifying communication, creating personalized outreach, building meaningful relationships, and helping students move from uncertainty to confidence. Rather than asking only why students disappear, this session invites institutions to consider where students may be losing connection—and what we can do before they do.
